Bellow expansion joints are used to compensate for thermal expansion of the pipeline and to connect pumps and other devices causing vibrations to the pipeline. Due to the fact that they are made entirely of stainless steel, they can operate at a much higher temperature of the working medium than rubber elastic joints. Their bellows, made of thin steel sheet, are very flexible. Thanks to this, they can effectively absorb destructive thermal and mechanical deformations of the pipeline and protect against stresses. Rubber expansion joints (elastic rubber joints) are used to dampen vibrations and reduce noise, as well as short compensation of the length (max. 2 to 3 mm) and non-alignment of the installation (max. 0.5). Rubber expansion joints are used to connect pumps and other devices to the pipeline. When selecting the compensator (expansion joint), the type of medium and its pressure and temperature parameters should be taken into consideration. Compensators (expansion joints) are not adapted to carrying heavy loads, therefore they should be properly secured with the help of sliding and fixed supports. It should also be remembered that the rubber elements of the compensator (expansion joint) should not be lubricated, painted or insulated.
